COVID -19

Crantock Lodge took an early decision to protect all Residents and Staff from the threat Caused by COVID-19 . In early March all visitors were discouraged  and staff entering the Home were closely monitored for symptoms and regular temperatures of Staff and Residents were taken in addition to other Intensive infection control measurers .

We are pleased to report that Crantock Lodge is COVID -19 free however we are not complacent and strict protection measurers will remain in force for some time to come.

Crantock Lodge is a tranquil and peaceful home and may be unsuitable for Residents with disturbed behaviour. Whilst not registered for Dementia we can provide support for the “Gently Bewildered “

We acknowledge that when a room becomes available it is important that new Residents are not carriers of the virus and we are therefore introducing the following measurers to ensure Residents and staff remain safe at all times .

Should a room become available we will provide an information pack which should be read in association with a visit to our website. This will provide prospective Residents with sufficient information to make an informed decision if Crantock Lodge will meet their needs The information pack will include details and pictures of the actual Room and provide details of the Charges.

All prospective Residents must be assessed to ensure that Crantock Lodge can meet their needs and this would normally be conducted with a visit to the prospective Resident where face to face assessment can be conducted.

Due to the social distancing and government requirements such assessments are now conducted via a video conference. We are now regularly conducting video calls with Doctors and District Nurses. Whilst this may appear daunting, it is our experience that such meetings can be conducted with little inconvenience and can full fill the main requirements of an assessment. Prospective Residents can ask questions as the Home Manager and a senior Carer will be in attendance.

Crantock Lodge uses ZOOM and our manager will be happy to provide details of how this can be set up on a laptop or tablet. Please telephone 01637 872 112 for more information

Prior to arrival at Crantock Lodge any New Resident must be in possession of a COVID-19 test which is less than 7 days old. New Residents will be required to provide a temperature chart for the previous 7 days and sign a declaration that they, or anyone in their immediate household, has not displayed any of the Government defined symptoms over the last 7 days.

Once the required administration has been completed then an arrival date will be agreed and the Resident will take occupation of the Room . For the first 7 days the new Resident will not mix with existing residents to ensure additional protection. Following the 7 day isolation period  and provided the Resident in not displaying any symptoms , they can join in all Home activities .

We appreciate that these measurers  for residents joining Crantock Lodge are not ideal but they are designed to protect Residents and staff and ensure that COVID-19 does not get into  our Home with devastating results !
