A “Thank You “

This is an extract from an email received from a Relative of one of our Residents and gives an indication of the level of Care we provide.

“My 90 year old Mum has been living in Crantock Lodge since January 2020. As a family we count ourselves very, very lucky indeed that Mum is living there and being cared for by such a wonderful team, led by Kim the Manager. My Mum loves living at Crantock Lodge and in particular, adores the whole team. Kim always says that our family are part of the Crantock Lodge family. Certainly we regard the whole team at Crantock Lodge as part of our family. When you go into Crantock Lodge it is like being in your own home. It is a warm and loving place. As soon as you arrive  it puts a big smile on your face. The team know your first names and have time to talk to you about anything. It’s also been great to get to know them. They are all hugely professional, caring and very special people, who carry out such a vital role. I always tell my Mum that she is in the very best possible place in the world, with a lovely team, caring for her.

During the COVID-19 pandemic Kim and her team have kept all the residents safe. This is a huge achievement, only possible through their brilliant professionalism. Mum had her 90th birthday during the lock down, but Kim and the team made it a special time for us all, even though we could only see Mum through the lounge window.

When Mum’s flat was sold, we asked Kim if we could bring a few very sentimental things ( furniture made by my Dad, Mum’s late husband) over, so that it would make Mum’s room look even more homely. Nothing was too much trouble. I was able to visit my Mum in her room at Crantock Lodge yesterday, 9 April 2021, for the first time in many months. This was only after I had tested negative for COVID, had my temperature taken and dressed up in PPE kit. Seeing Mum and holding her hand was magical and very emotional for me. Seeing her big smiling face when she saw me was just as good. Her room at Crantock Lodge looks just as it did in her flat, homely, warm and lovely.

There have been so many times since Mum has been at Crantock Lodge that my sisters and I have either personally thanked Kim and her team for all that they do for Mum, or sent email, after email, thanking them. No words or emails are enough to express my family’s appreciation and gratitude for all that Kim and her wonderful team do in caring for Mum. This is why I thought I would email the CQC. My Mum, no doubt like many people of her age, has a lot going on with her health. There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that due to the wonderful care that Crantock Lodge provides, that this has hugely improved her quality of life. For that my Mum, my family and I will always be in debt to the team at Crantock Lodge. Every time I see Mum face to face, she seems to look younger!! I often say to Kim and the team that they are magicians; how they manage to do that? Actually, it is easy to understand why. It is purely down to the love and care Mum gets from the wonderful team at Crantock Lodge.

I just wanted to bring to your attention that in the view of my Mum, my family and I,  in Crantock Lodge, you have a fantastic home, with the most wonderful team led by Kim on behalf of the owners, caring for all of the residents and my Mum. These are very caring people, with very special skills and who are incredibly professional.”
